Andes Candies Meringues

I have so much fun baking each year for Christmas that I thought that I might start sharing some of my family's favorites. Each recipe that I share has obviously originated from somewhere, and I will do my best to inform you of the originals, but some have been found and then tweaked  and I may have lost where the originals have come from. I am, by no means, an expert in baking or cooking, and therefore please do not scold if I do something you deem as not right or different than what you do, pretty, pretty please. The first recipe that I wanted to share is one I originally found in a Taste of Home booklet. You can find it here on their website. I really haven't changed this one too much, as these turn out so wonderfully, but I do change up the steps somewhat. Here is a picture of them right before they go into the oven: And here is a picture of them once they are nice and cooled off in their tin. Ingredients: 2 egg whites 1/4 teaspoon cream of

Happy Birthday and a Winner! {And a Giveaway!}

Hello on this very chilly Saturday! We have had a whirlwind week here in our household with last minute details for Christmas, cookie and candy making, a blizzard, a surprise birthday party for my brother and an extended family Christmas party. Here are a few pictures from this week, though you may have already seen them if you are a follower on Instagram.  We ended up with about 10 inches of snow! The girls had a blast playing outside. And this is my grumpy ol' gnome of a brother at his party. He can fake grumpy pretty well can't he? I will share my adventure in baking and making pictures with you tomorrow. It will prove to be a pretty yummy post! ;) Next, it is a brand new challenge over on the 365 Cards challenge blog today. The prompt is Boy oh Boy: create a birthday card for a teenage boy. And here is what I came up with: Pretty simple and clean, but I think that fits pretty well with the theme! {Or at least with my nephews it would.}

All of our snow is gone {the whole one time it snowed and left anything behind ;)}. Today starts a brand new challenge over on the 365 Cards blog . It has been Opposite week over there, and today the opposite prompt is long and short. For my card, I used a long piece of ribbon and a short piece of ribbon. I also used the stamp set I designed for Market Street Stamps, Ornaments . Or, you could try your hand at winning one in this blog post here with some other great products in one of my annual Spirit of Giving giveaways! A Giveaway, a Winner, and the Countdown to Christmas!

I hope you all had a wonderful week last week! I know mine went by far too quickly. Between getting ready for Christmas, a little girl who hasn't been at 100% and the normal running, I can't seem to wrap my head around the fact that it is already December!!! I really do love the feelings I get around Christmas. I guess it ultimately starts just before Halloween and lasts through the beginning of the New Year. Although most of the emotions are happy ones, there is the part that brings a slight melancholy when things are still for just a bit and I am reminded that my dad is no longer with us. Though I miss him mightily, I know he is watching us from above and surrounding us with his love. I try to be my best that I can be, and I know that I fall short in many areas, but especially during the holidays, I get that extra burst of something. It's not really energy, but I guess you could call it positiveness maybe. I am reminded of all the things I am so very blessed with

Merry Christmas Card

*** You can find the Spirit of Giving giveaway post here .*** Hello!! There is a brand new challenge today over on the 365 Cards blog. The prompt is to use scallops and stripes. We also have a brand new sponsor for this week, Stamp Your Life . Here is my card using their December Days Digital Stamp in red and green. I decided to print it out on kraft cardstock to change it up form the traditional red, green and white. I used Authentique patterned paper, American Crafts jute, TPC and Bazzill bling, and even used a Copic Marker to change the color of the green blings. Hope you have a great day! Don't forget about my Spirit of Giving giveaways going on right now. You can find that post here !!

Spirit of Giving

So, I meant to have this post up on Saturday, but then I got caught up in some family activities, mainly cleaning and then taking the kids Glow Bowling. And then I was going to post it yesterday, but we ended up babysitting my nephew all day and did more cleaning, some tree trimming at Grandma and Grandpa's and then a soccer game, and back to more cleaning. Now, I am getting it up quick before anything else gets in the way!  Let me first start out by saying that I am beyond thankful for everything in my life. I have a beautiful family, awesome friends, a warm house and many other things that make by life a blessing. I take these things for granted on occasion and I often forget that not everyone has it this good. This will be my third year of doing the Spirit of Giving, and I want to make it the best one yet. {There is a good chance that I will forget to make a post on time, or pick a winner on time, or do anything else on time. It's just the way I roll.} T

Be Naughty!

Hello out there!! Are you still there? I know, it's been forever, and I even forgot to post my card last Saturday for 365 Cards! But I have lots of stuff to post about, and I may break it up throughout the day. {You never know, there might be something worth waiting for at the end of the day ;)} Well, onto today's challenge for 365 Cards . The prompt is Imagine This: Sassy. So, my mind immediately went to this month's release over at Peachy Keen Stamps. Kathy has a cute little sentiment stamp that I thought would work perfectly! All of the elements on this card are from either the Peachy Keen Stamp of the Month Club or the Peachy Picks Kit Club {which is unfortunately sold out for this month}. Also, Peachy Keen is having a HUGE "Gobble it Up" sale going on right now through the end of Monday evening. You can go here and find out all of the great details!! And let me tell you, you do not want to miss out. Hint, hint... free stamp set with

A Very Merry Christmas {Distress Stain Tutorial}

Hello! It's my turn to share a tutorial over on the Market Street Stamps blog today. I first started with gathering all of the supplies that I was going to need for this project: Ornaments stamp set Watercolor paper Distress Stains {Shabby Shutters, Crushed Olive, Peeled Paint, Black Soot} Broad Nib Water Brush Fine Detail Nib Water Brush Archival Ink {Will not bleed when used with water} Rock Candy Distress Stickles Ink Palette Spellbinders Labels 8 Authentique Festive 6x6 paper pad The first color I used was Shabby Shutters. I used the wider flat water brush and dipped it into the palette where I hold small amounts of my Distress Stains. I filled the body of the long ornament in completely. I then used the same brush in Crushed Olive and filled in slightly more than half of the ornament. And then with Peeled Paint, I filled in about one third of the ornament. Next I used the smaller tipped water brush with Black Soot to

Under the Christmas Tree

Hello! It's another Saturday Challenge over at 365 Cards . Today's prompt is Setting the Scene. Create a indoor scene using at least one stamp. I chose to do an under the tree scene. The bough and present are die cuts from the Silhouette store and the ornament is from my newly released stamp set, Ornaments , from Market Street Stamps. On the back of the ornament I decided to attach a real ornament hanger.  I hope you are all enjoying your weekend so far. I am frantically trying to catch up on everything after a trip I took to visit with friends this past week.
